More Energy, Less Brain Fog!
Beating Hypothyroid exhaustion and claiming clarity of mind.
I'm not gonna lie, it still takes me 2 hours to settle my marbles and start the day. It takes a whole french press of coffee, some stumbling around the kitchen, and trying to make polite conversation with my cats.
But, I've been exhausted and dazed long enough that I've developed my own strategy to coping.
"I've been exhausted and dazed long enough that I've developed my own strategy to coping."
Here are some of the things that have helped me:
1. Coffee - Light Roast!
I know this might seem like a no brainer, but hear me out. I recommend drinking good coffee, preferably not out of a machine or Keurig, but using a French press or Aeropress. I also suggest drinking light roast because it has the most caffeine! Coffee is easy make it, and it doesn't take a long time. Here's a French press link and coffee link.
2. Ashwagandha
Ashwawho?
Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda, a form of alternative medicine based on Indian principles of natural healing. It can boost brain function, lower blood sugar and cortisol levels, and help fight symptoms of anxiety and depression. See this page for more benefits!
3. L-Theanine
(ADHD BONUS)
I don't know how L-theanine reacts with none-ADHD brains, so this is a bonus in this article!
Paired with caffeine, L-theanine may help increase focus and attention. L-theanine is an amino acid extracted from the leaves of camellias sinensis — the fancy-pants name for the common tea plant. It's actually responsible for some of the savory notes in green tea and is a common relaxant, often mixed with other natural supplements to induce feelings of calm and relaxation.
A 2013 study found that moderate levels of L-theanine and caffeine (about 97 mg and 40 mg) helped a group of young adults to focus better during demanding tasks.
The study’s participants also felt more alert and less tired in general. According to another study, these effects can be felt in as little as 30 minutes.
I accidentally discovered this ingredient as I was gravitating towards Phocus (a sparkling, flavored, caffeinated drink). Every time I drank it, I felt energized yet focused! Even when I drank it at 6 pm - it was incredible!
4. Adrenal Support - Bovine extract
I call this my Adderall, and I was hesitant to share it because it's very strong. But here it is, the secret sauce: a-Drenal RLC Labs. (This supplement already has L-Theanine and Ashwagandha). IT IS MAGIC, YA'LL. M-A-G-I-C. But be careful!
Recommended dosage:
1 - After breakfast (before 12 pm), take 2 pills.
2 - Take 2 more after lunch (before 2 pm - this is very important).
** If you're drinking a lot of coffee in the morning don't take all 4, take only 2 (the morning dose) - that's what I do. Otherwise, you're gonna drive your adrenals crazy.
** DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU HAVE HYPER-THYROIDISM.
** Monitor if you feel antsy/sweaty/have a racing heart beat.
This magic pill has absolutely transformed my morning, my life, my mood, and my productivity. I will continue singing it's praises.
I accompany the above product with Adrenal Cortisol Support. Why? Because your adrenals need to calm down. Take this an hour or two before bed. It calms you down and smoothes you. Energy comes from a good night's rest.
5. Matcha
Green tea collagen matcha is my afternoon delight. I drink it around 2 pm. Easy to make, it's delicious, and it's good for your hair, skin, and nails!
Matcha contains the nutrients from the entire tea leaf, which results in a greater amount of caffeine and antioxidants than what's typically found in green tea.
Studies of matcha and its components have unearthed a variety of benefits, showing that it can help protect the liver, promote heart health, and even aid in weight loss.
6. Sunlight & Walking
Can something so simple make an impact on your energy levels? Yes, yes, it can! You gotta use energy to make energy - as crazy as it sounds, it's true. The endorphins will pump through your veins, it will boost your mood, get your heart rate up, and awaken your senses!
When weather permits, I go on 4 walks a day, usually right after meals. 15 - 30 minutes a day is sufficient, do your best :)
Let me know if you guys try any of these!
