Guest Bathroom Renovation!
Applying wallpaper, tearing down our 90's counter, and learning how to be plumbers.
Okay, we absolutely love our house, but some aspects of it... one would call them *boomerish*. And the guest half bath downstairs was one of those ghastly boomer outdated indicators: the bathroom had glossy blue walls (they were a deep red before the previous dwellers repainted), a pink quartz countertop, a glass chandelier, frou-frou accents, and was surrounded by mirrors.
We began day dreaming of renovating it, and eventually decided to go for it.
We first picked out the essential piece that would be the "anchor" of the concept. For me it was a beautiful crane wallpaper from Italy. I love chinoiserie, and will probably purchase authentic chinoiserie wallpaper eventually, but the crane wallpaper I picked had a modern twist to it which really appealed to my ever modern, tech savvy husband. After purchasing the wallpaper, we picked out the Scandinavian styled vanity/sink - white (some may say bland, but it tied the room together). We kept the glass chandelier, because it went well with the house, it is original to the house, and I wanted to keep a bit of its nostalgia. We picked antique brass/non-shiny gold accents, which meant our faucet matched our toilet paper holder and the mirror frame. It seems so easy writing it all in this paragraph, but believe me, it took weeks of blood, sweat, and tears.
